Farrier Blaine - He trims all 3 sunshine herd member's hooves every 3 months. They live in 100 x 100 pastures and have a 2+ acre turnout so they naturally wear their hooves down and don't need regular trims as often as domestic horses living in stalls. Farrier Blaine is at our sanctuary weekly with his wife, our trainer, Brooke and has eyes on the herd's hooves and we schedule trims accordingly.
Trainer Brooke - She is at our sanctuary weekly for training sessions with both horses. We work on groundwork/manners. She also helps me in my life long learning journey in the equine world. I'm new to equines and wild equines, starting my journey full throttle jumping all in when the Alpine wild horse herd was being zeroed out of their natureal Apache National Forest in Northern Arizona. Brooke works with me so that I am better prepared, more knowledgeable and more comfortable handling all 3 Sunshine herd members.
Vet - Dr. Hulse from West Valley Equine Veterinary Services. She is a mobile vet and a dentist. Dr. Hulse visits the sanctuary every summer for our yearly health exams, deworming & vaccines. She also comes out if we need her for any health situations that arise with the herd. Dr. Hulse partners with the Durango Equine Vet Clinic who she worked for the 1st 20+ yrs of her career. If we need a vet after normal business hours or on the weekends, either Dr. Hulse is on call or Durango Equine Vet Clinic is on call. They share medical files so all of the Sunshine herd's medical history and health information is readily available to any vet who comes out to help us.
Vet - Dr. Aguel from Perfect Balance Equine Dentistry & Vet Services. Lil Bob was gelded by Dr. Aguel. She gelded many of the stallions rounded up from Bob's Alpine wild herd and is an excellent and highly recommended Vet/Dentist.
